The initiative toward the enterprise and educational markets comes from the fact that 64GB, the currently highest level storage capacity offered in an iPad, can sometimes be a hindering feature, especially those that need large files and storage amounts while on the go.
The new 128GB iPad will be available on Tuesday, February 5th in both black or white and available at Apple.com, Apple Stores, and authorized Apple retailers.
The starting price is $799 for the WiFi only model and $929 for the WiFi + cellular data model.
One reason why Apple could be bringing the 128GB iPad to market now is to distract enterprise users from Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet which is set to make its debut.
The Surface Pro comes in both a 64GB and 128GB model and is priced at $899 and $999 respectively.
The Surface Pro will also run full Windows desktop apps such as Office, which will obviously be attractive to some enterprise users.
