Sony attracted much attention by introducing the new Xperia Z at the CES 2013; everyone agrees that this phone (or should we call it a phablet?) is a real game changer, and now even Samsung will have to work even harder to make its upcoming Galaxy phones and phablets more attractive and competitive. But Sony doesn’t want to stop there – it is going to enter the tablet market, too!
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z has already leaked, carrying the codename “Pollux” (with the model number C690X in the West and SO-03E via NTT DoCoMo in Japan). They say it will be a 10-inch tablet with 1920 x 1200 resolution display, armed with a quad-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and 2GB of RAM. Internal memory of 32GB doesn’t seem to be much, but anyway, that’s what most tablets now offer.
The tablet is also rumored to have an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front shooter, and a powerful 6,000 mAh battery that will most likely provide many, many hours of battery life. LTE connectivity and NFC (Sony said all their new devices will have NFC support) also seem to be quite nice additions.
The Xperia Tablet Z is expected to be extremely thin (at only 6.9mm), and waterproof and dustproof, just like its smartphone version.
What do you think about this tablet? Would you prefer it over Apple’s iPad 4 and Samsung’s Galaxy tabs?
