Having a hard time connecting your iPhone or iPad to your WiFi network? This is something that’s been coming up a lot lately, especially with iPhone 5 WiFi problems and also iPad Mini WiFi problems, because Christmas was a big holiday for these devices. Millions of people either purchased an iPhone or iPad Mini for themselves, or received one as a gift.
One thing that can frustrate an iPhone or iPad user faster than anything is WiFi connectivity problems. After all, Apple promotes their products and brands with the moto that it just works.

Unfortunately, it just works doesn’t cut it for some iPhone and iPad users.
I cover a lot of WiFi connectivity issues and troubleshooting tips here at Tablet Crunch, and whenever I find a solution that is reportedly working well for people having WiFi problems, I usually go ahead and share that tip. This, along with all the troubleshooting I do for iPhone and iPad users already.
One of the more recent tips I’ve seen people talking about is renaming your WiFi network in your wireless router. Now, this isn’t something that you’ll know how to do initially if you haven’t ever opened up the admin panel of your wireless router. This implies that your WiFi network is named something like “Linksys” and is unsecured. But, there are plenty of people that at least know how to get into the admin panel of the wireless router, rename their networks, and give their wireless network a password.
In order to perform this trouble shooting step, you’ll need to first login to your wireless router’s admin panel. This is most commonly achieved by entering the IP address of your wireless router, then entering the username and password for your router.
If you aren’t sure what your IP address is, the default is 192.168.1.1.
Open up a web browser and enter “192.168.1.1” in your web browser address bar (without quotes) and hit enter on your keyboard. This should (in most cases anyway) open up a login screen. Of course, there are lots of wireless routers on the market, so this is by no means an “all inclusive” method.

And then you should see something like this:
After you’ve entered your wireless router’s admin dashboard, you should now be ready to find your wireless network. If you haven’t changed or customized the wireless network before then it will be something standard like “Linksys”. If you customized it previously, this should be easy enough for you to find.
Once you find your wireless network, all you need to do is give it a new name and then save it.
After you’ve given your wireless network a new name and saved it, now go back to your iPhone or iPad and you should see the wireless network that you just created in your network list. Go ahead and attempt to connect to the newly named wireless network.
