Previous rumors slated Apple to send out news conference invites yesterday, October 10th.   And that event was expected to be the news conference announcing the iPad Mini – Apple’s smaller, 7.85 inch version of the iPad.

Well, it’s obviously now the 11th and we haven’t seen any invites from Apple, which means we still don’t know for sure about any iPad Mini announcement.

However, the folks from All Things D apparently have an inside scoop at Apple who has confirmed that the iPad Mini announcement is coming on October 23rd – this according to people familiar with Apple’s plans.

As is typically the case, as we approach an Apple event announcing a new product the rumors and leaks get more frequent.

The iPad Mini is no different.

We were just talking 9 days ago about leaked information out of China confirming that the iPad Mini was current in mass production and that Apple order 10 million iPad Mini’s for Q4 2012.

All of this points to the fact that we are more than likely on the verge of seeing the iPad Mini.
