5 Ways To Tell If You Are Addicted To Your Smartphone

Think you might be addicted to your iPhone, Android phone, or some other smartphone?  You know… denial is always the first sign you have a problem!  Below are 5 ways to help you clarify if you are, in fact, addicted to your smartphone.

Welcome to the 21st century, where smartphones are as much an addiction as gambling and smoking, and if you don’t get the right plan, just as expensive. However, there is a difference between those who own a cell phone because they need one and those who quite simply couldn’t live without theirs. So we have put together a list of signs to look out for which will give you an idea which category you fall into.

#1:  Texting without looking

To some texting requires both hands, whilst carefully looking at your phone.

To others, it’s something that can be done with a phone in each hand whilst they type the Declaration of Independence in under 30 seconds.

If you can text with either hand so quickly you digits become a blur then it’s possible you’re an addict.

#2:  Checking hotels for reception before taking a holiday

Or even worse, did you call the various hotels you were considering for your honeymoon before you booked?

If you consider reception before taking a vacation, taking the family on a picnic, or going to the theatre, then it would appear you have something akin to an addiction.

#3:  Seeing images from your phone after you close your eyes to sleep

Do you get into bed only to have images of an Angry Bird being launched unceremoniously at an unsuspecting pig going round in your head?

Perhaps you are putting rows of brightly colored jewels together at an attempt to break them in under a minute.

Maybe you wake up after dreaming of shapes falling down a screen, as you desperately attempt to complete a jigsaw.

If you’re experiencing any of these, then perhaps it’s time to put down that smartphone a little earlier and relax with a good book.

You may sleep better as well.

#4:  Endlessly picking your cell phone up and putting it down

Some people can’t go 30 seconds without checking their cell. Pick it up, unlock it, check for messages, lock it, put down, and repeat over and over again.

It doesn’t matter whether you are expecting a call from a loved one or not, you just have to keep checking it, scared that you could possibly miss some important notification.

#5:  Can’t be separated from your phone

If the idea of being without your phone for any period of time leaves you hyperventilating then you’re probably a little to addicted to it. It may just be that you are so used to it that you think life will end should the battery die unexpectedly.

If you hate being without your phone, charge it in public places whenever possible and always look for a signal as soon as you enter a building, then the danger signs are there.

If you are addicted to your phone to the point where it has taken over your life then maybe it’s time for an upgrade.

After all, if something is so important to you then you deserve the best. Maybe it’s time to check out the latest iPhone 5 deals and treat yourself to a shiny new companion.
