Google reaches a new milestone for Android with 25 billion app downloads and 675,000 total apps now available in the Google Play store.
The folks at Google posted today that 675,000 Android apps have been downloaded a total of 25 billion times through the Google Play store.
This number shows that Google is nearly neck and neck with Apple’s App. At the recent iPhone 5 event, Apple CEO Steve Cook (Apple CEO) announced there were more than 700,000 applications currently in their app store, with 250,000 of those apps written specifically for the iPad.
Google is so excited about the news, and their achievement with Android, that they offering discounts on content available on Google Play.
Creations from developers including Electronic Arts, GameLoft, Rovio and more will be on sale for 25 cents, while the company will also be highlighting special prices on movies, books, albums and magazines.
