All do respect here, but I think Steve Jobs is probably turning in his grave right about now over this whole iOS 6 and Apple maps upgrade.
I can actually hear Donald Trump saying, in the only way Donald Trump can say it… “what a disaster!”
After you upgrade your iPhone or iPad to the new iOS 6, when you click on Apple maps pretty much anywhere else except directly on the Apple maps icon on your iPhone or iPad, Google Maps will actually load.
So if you share your location via Facebook or Twitter, or share a link via text message, from your newly updated iOS 6 device and someone clicks it, guess what…. it will load a Google Maps location.
In fact (yes, it gets even better) in iOS 6, the link that is shared from your iPhone or iPad is actually a maps.apple.com URL wrapper for a Google Maps specified address.
This is not boding well for Apple, and they are now reportedly in a hiring spree to bring in engineers to get this thing fixed ASAP.
Something tells me that a few people at Apple have lost their jobs over this one… call me crazy.
Perhaps worst of all for Apple, the criticism of this Apple maps mess is going viral and happening on a very large scale.
A position that the folks in Cupertino as now used to.
