There is one thing that you will always see when it comes to the release of game console technology, and that is that the original console and remote release is just the beginning.
After the initial launch there will always be more accessories that are available and newer remotes that are better and more beneficial to have during a serious gaming session.
Most developers know that when someone gets wrapped up in a gaming console or a specific game then they will want all of the latest equipment that can help them to reach the highest score and beat the game the fastest.
Wii
The Wii console was originally sold with a single remote. It was not a big deal not to have a 2nd remote for a lot of the games you can use a single remote and simply trade off during play. The only problem is that when you were involved in the basic sports games such as baseball, tennis, or boxing you would have to have a 2nd remote if you wanted to play against anyone but the computer. Then with the release of the Wii Resort there came the Motion sensor addition.
This meant that you could not play any of the Resort games without the motion sensor, and this was just the tip of the iceberg. There have been several pieces of equipment that have been made available such has the band equipment, Wii balance board, and simply just accessories for the basic games.
Xbox 360
The Xbox 360 came with the basic Xbox remote. It was perfect for getting used to the console and adapting to the new level of game play. The only problem is that many people wanted specific features such as the wireless extended life remote that would allow for hours on end of game play. Certain remotes fit better in your hand to avoid blistering, and other remotes were built with a higher sensitivity for better game play.
The Xbox 360 also released the Kinect which was one of the fastest selling pieces of gaming equipment. It was a piece of equipment that could be added onto the 360 that would allow the device to read your body movement. It would help to combine the best aspects of the 360 with the best aspects of the Wii with only a small upgrade.
PS3
The PS3 has its own set of advances that have made for a fun and entertaining console. Not only does the original PS3 come prepared to play all of your favorite current and past Playstation games, but it also doubles as a blu-ray player. There are the basic remotes that are available for the PS3 or there are upgraded remotes that are available.
The upgraded remotes are cordless and offer a longer playing time. They are more form fitting to the hand for better play, and some even are available with additional options, keyboards, or buttons. The PS3 also did not want to be left behind it the movement section of the gaming world, so it released the Move. The move uses a remote, like the Wii, that would read your movement by the use of the remote.
The latest set of technology seems to focus less on the actual gaming and more on the interesting factors that can be associated into the games. It is interesting to see how your body and your environment can now be used to help progress your level of play in a game when before it was based on simply your knowledge of your remote and hand eye coordination.
