September 12th is shaping up to be perhaps one of Apple’s biggest days ever in the company’s history.
Let me start out by giving the standard disclosure: all of the this is still rumored and Apple has not (nor will they ever) release any information that would otherwise confirm or deny the following information.
Wow, I just felt like an attorney typing that out.
But yes, September 12th is the day that is becoming more solidified as the day that Apple will hold a special news conference to make some “amazing announcements”.
And you’ve seen these before – these are the news conferences where Steve Jobs would stand up and captivate the world with his new technological advances and gadgets.

What’s exciting to me about the rumored September 12th news conference is that Apple is expected to not only announce the new iPhone 5, but we’ll also see their new 7 inch tablet called the iPad Mini. You’ve probably heard about Steve Jobs being quoted as saying that “7 inch tablets will be dead on arrival.” But Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Google’s Nexus 7 are proving that statement to simply not be true.
Granted, the sales volume for these tablets are not anywhere close to iPad’s sales volume, but they are respectable enough in their own rights to justify that yes, there is in fact a market for the 7 inch tablets. In Q1 2012, Amazon sold – where customers actually paid money in exchange for a Kindle Fire – over 1.8 million units. And even though we don’t know exact sales figures on the Nexus 7, data is showing that Google’s 7 inch tablet usage is definitely on the rise.
Finally, the iPod Touch
As if the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini aren’t enough for one day, Apple is expected to release a revamped model of the iPod Touch. And you can find some arguments out there that claim the iPad Mini is actually the revamped iPod Touch, which would leave us with the 7 inch iPod Touch.
Again, Apple will never confirm or deny these types of rumors. But as you can see, September 12th is looking like it could be one of the most historic days in Apple’s history.
Thoughts?
