This is a chart that really puts the growth of the iPad into perspective.  We’ve known about the massive global shortages with the first generation iPad.  And this continued through the second gen iPad.  I would say though, by the time the 3rd gen iPad hit, Apple seemed to have settled their global logistical issues.  But look at the chart below, and notice the explosive growth of the iPad over the first 8 quarters of it’s life compared to other Apple products.  Yes, the iPhone redefined the mobile smartphone and everyone’s been trying to catch them ever since it was first released back in 2007.  But nothing compares to the velocity and popularity of the iPad.  And by the looks of the sales figures with the 3rd gen iPad, it doesn’t look like there is any slowing down in the near future.
