Apple In Trouble Over New iPad 4G LTE Limitation

Apple has found itself in some hot water over the new iPad’s 4G LTE limitations in Australia and the misleading advertising that leads some people to believe they will be getting 4G speeds.

Customers in Australia are complaining that Apple’s advertising of the new iPad leads them to believe they will be getting 4G speeds with the new tablet.  The only problem is in Australia, and nearly everywhere else in the world, the new iPad cannot reach 4G speeds – big problem since Apple advertises the new iPad as a WiFi + 4G tablet.

Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) took aim directly at Apple earlier this week over the misleading advertising and Apple has agreed, slightly, to post signs where ever the new iPad is sold that will hopefully clarify the whole 4G issue.

Along with posting signs, Apple has also agreed to email every single customer who has purchased the new iPad to offer refunds if they chose to return their iPad, according to SMH.com.

The whole issue here is that Apple’s new iPad is tuned to only work with 4G networks in the United States and Canada.  The 4G networks in places other than those two countries operate at a different frequency, causing the new iPad to lose its 4G capabilities.

What do you think about this whole 4G limitation with the new iPad?

Do you think customers will actually be returning the new iPad for a refund?
