In standard Jeff Bezos style, he reported in December that the Amazon Kindle Fire was “selling very, very well.” No numbers, mild exictement, no exuberance – sort of like, it’s just a number.
According to some estimates however, Amazon ended up selling 5.5 million Kindle Fire tablets in Q4 2011, and it is expected that 18.4 Kindle Fire’s will sell in 2012.
And since we are talking about a tablet that is not an iPad, those are numbers that are definitely worth getting excited over. 18.4 million tablets in 2012 will equate to half of the non-iPad market worldwide.
Earlier estimates, predicted that Amazon would sell 4.4 million Kindle Fire tablets in Q4, but the sales volume has been nothing less than phenomenal and the tablet is… pardon the pun, on fire!
