The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is set to hit the tablet stage with it’s 10.1 inch display and powered by the Android OS. What’s catching the attention of the tablet enthusiast however is the impressive speed that’s coming packed inside this new Android tablet. The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is coming with Nvidia’s new quad-core Tegra 3 processor – the fastest and most powerful processor on the market for mobile devices. The quad-core Tegra 3 makes this the fastest Android tablet available in the marketplace.
Despite the speed and the 10.1 inch display of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, the price of the device sets it up for hard up hill battle. The tablet is being released in a 32GB and 64GB model with pricing of $499 and $599 respectively. This puts the ASUS Eee Pad in direct competition with the iPad which, as we all know, is really not any competition whatsoever. So my initial impression on this new, Android tablet is that it’s destined for slow to modest sales at best – even despite the quad-core processing power. Again, I don’t believe any tablet can compete with the iPad on features, design, or functionality but only on price. Bring an Android tablet to market that priced substantially lower than the iPad, then you’ll see some competition.
