In a bit of irony perhaps, Google CEO Eric Schmidt announced at his keynote speech at IFA that the Google tablet would in fact be running the Chrome OS, not the Android OS that so many other tablets coming to market are running.
You see, the Android OS is a Google invention designed for mobile devices (i.e. tablets and mobile phones). But when it comes to Google’s own tablet device, it seems they will go with something other than their trademark mobile OS – that being Android – and instead go with Chrome OS.
Chrome OS is a cloud based platform that requires near continuous data connections for data storage and functionality. As opposed to Android which works more like a standard operating system, not requiring the cloud to function.
So what are your thoughts about Google’s tablet running Chrome OS instead of the Android OS platform?
